Chiropractic Pricing & Insurance in Holland, MI

Transparent prices, the insurance we accept, and plain-English answers to your coverage questions.

We believe you should know what your care costs before you’re on the table — not after. Below are our current self-pay prices, the insurance we work with, and plain-English answers to the insurance questions we hear most.

Our Prices

These are our fees — and they’re the same whether you pay out of pocket or we bill your insurance. We don’t keep two price lists. If you use insurance, what you personally owe depends on your plan (copay, deductible, coinsurance), but the underlying charge is the same one you see here. Simple and posted, no surprises.

Using Insurance?

Because we bill your plan the same prices listed above, there’s no separate “insurance rate” to decode. What changes when you use insurance is how much of that cost is yours versus your plan’s — and that depends on your benefits (copays, deductibles, visit limits, referral rules), which vary from plan to plan. Here’s how we take the guesswork out: before or at your first visit, we verify your specific benefits and explain, in plain English, what you can expect to owe. If your plan has a 20-visit cap or a specialist copay that makes a treatment plan pricey, you’ll know up front.

Insurance Plans We Accept

We’re in-network with many major plans, including:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan
  • Priority Health
  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Medicare
  • Michigan auto no-fault (PIP) — accident-related care
  • Workers’ compensation

Don’t see your plan? Give us a call — we may still be able to help, and we can check your out-of-network benefits.

Car Accident or Work Injury?

If your pain came from a car accident, Michigan’s no-fault system means your auto insurance’s Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits typically cover accident-related chiropractic care — often without the visit caps health plans impose. For a work injury, workers’ compensation generally covers care. We handle the documentation and billing for both so you can focus on getting better.

HSA & FSA

Chiropractic care for a medical condition is a qualified HSA/FSA expense, so you can use pre-tax dollars. (It has to be for treatment of a condition, not general wellness, and some administrators ask for a letter of medical necessity.) If you have FSA funds set to expire, this is a legitimate way to use them.

Packages & Financing

Discounted packages. Care plans that use several sessions of non-surgical spinal decompression or Class IV laser therapy are available as discounted multi-session packages — ask us for current package pricing.

CareCredit financing. We accept CareCredit, so you can spread the cost of care over time with flexible financing — a helpful option for a decompression or laser package, or for any care your insurance doesn’t fully cover.

Insurance Terms, in Plain English

Insurance has its own vocabulary. Here’s what the words on your plan actually mean:

  • Copay — a fixed amount you pay for a covered visit (for example, $40 per chiropractic visit), usually due at the time of service.
  • Deductible — the amount you pay out of pocket each year before your insurance starts paying its share. If your deductible is $1,500, you pay the first $1,500 of covered care yourself.
  • Coinsurance — after you’ve met your deductible, the percentage of the cost you keep paying (say, 20%), while your plan pays the rest (80%).
  • Out-of-pocket maximum — the most you’ll pay in a plan year. Once you hit it, your insurance covers 100% of covered care for the rest of the year.
  • In-network — providers who have a contract with your insurer. Seeing an in-network provider almost always costs you less.
  • Prior authorization — approval your insurer requires before it will cover certain care. Some HMO-style plans require it for chiropractic.
  • Referral — some plans require your primary care doctor to refer you before they’ll cover a chiropractor or specialist.
  • Medical necessity — insurers pay for care that treats a documented condition. Once care shifts to general wellness or “maintenance,” most plans stop covering it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a chiropractic visit cost at McAlpine Chiropractic?

Our self-pay rates start at $54 for a standard spinal adjustment, with a new patient evaluation and adjustment at $139. Other services — laser, decompression, massage, cupping, infrared sauna — are listed above. If you’re using insurance, your cost depends on your plan’s copay, deductible, and coinsurance, which we verify before your first visit.

Do you take my insurance?

We accept many major Michigan plans (see the list above) and verify your specific benefits before your first visit. Even if we’re not in-network with your plan, give us a call — we can often still help and can check your out-of-network coverage.

What’s the difference between a copay and a deductible?

A copay is a fixed fee you pay per visit (say, $40). A deductible is the total amount you pay out of pocket each year before your insurance begins paying its share. You may owe your full visit cost until your deductible is met, then a copay or coinsurance after that.

Can I pay cash even if I have insurance?

Yes. Since we charge the same price whether or not we bill insurance, some patients simply pay out of pocket — for example, when a service isn’t covered, or they haven’t met their deductible and would owe the full amount anyway. It can also be simpler (no claim to process). We’ll help you weigh it either way.

Know Before You Go

No one should find out the price after the adjustment. Whether you’re paying cash or using insurance, we’ll make sure you know your cost before your first visit.
